The town of Barbizon sits on the edge of the Fontainebleau forest; where the artistic movement of the Barbizon School (1830-1875) precursor to Impressionism focused on the major theme of landscapes. Absolutely charming!
Théodore Rousseau, Jean-Baptiste Corot and Jean François Millet all lived and painted here.
Make no mistake that the walk through the forest was glorious and a welcomed break from the heat. One comes upon the Medallion Rousseau and Millet in the forest along with aspiring young artists.
Here were a few surprises in this artistic town…
Along with a new obsession!
